Our story
We are here to help homeowners reduce their carbon emissions.
BETTER ADVICE

While planning to make his home more energy efficient, Russell, one of our founders, experienced how complicated it was. He wanted to know which improvements would have the greatest impact on carbon emissions, which of them would bring the most value, and how they would they work together. He found that the advice he wanted didn’t exist – it was either too generic or too biased.

CREATING A SOLUTION

That’s why, in 2005, Russell, Chris, Alaine, and David put their heads together. Using their extensive experience in engineering, energy, and sustainability, they created Parity Projects – an award-winning company offering impartial home energy advice. Over the years, they have found that homeowners also want support finding reliable contractors and overseeing the works. This is when Parity Projects introduced Ecofurb, an end-to-end sustainable home renovation service.

You can read more about the development of Ecofurb here.

OUR PARTNER ON THE GROUND

Ecofurb is a partnership between Parity Projects and RetrofitWorks. RetrofitWorks is a cooperative of contractors including builders, specialist installers, and design professionals. All cooperative members are checked against industry, financial and health and safety criteria.

FEE TRANSPARENCY

We believe in a fair and open fee structure. We charge homeowners £200 for providing the Ecofurb Plan and normally between £300 and £1,200 for the Building Performance Specification, depending on the size of the project (the average fee is £550).

We cover most of our costs with a fee we charge to the contractors. This is because we provide a valuable service to them: we introduce them to customers, reduce their costs and provide quality assurance on their work. It’s a win-win situation.

OUR TEAM

The Ecofurb team is currently 15 people, normally based in a very well insulated office full of greenery in South London. We work with our expert Ecofurb Coordinators and cooperative of contractors, based across and around London and South Cambridgeshire.

We are all working at home at the moment, but very much working. You can still have your home surveyed, plan a renovation, and have the works carried out.
